Trentham Internal Competitions -Rules April 2021

To view the rules for a competition please click on the relevant entry below:

  1. Open to all Members, pairings are self-selected, and teams MUST be registered prior to the closing date.
  2. The 1st named team to contact the 2nd named team to arrange a mutually convenient time for the fixture.
  3. At least 3 dates should be offered, 2 of which should be in evening or at weekend for convenience of those people who have daytime commitments.
  4. The 1st named team is responsible for booking a rink.
  5. If a match cannot be completed by the "closing date", then the 1st named team will progress to the next round.
  6. The game will consist of 18 ends, 4 bowls each player.
  7. 2 "trial" ends, 2 bowls each player
  8. In the event of a tie, an extra end is to be played.
  9. Scorecard with competition, names and scores must be completed and signed by both teams and deposited in box for verification.
  10. In the event of any dispute the decision of the Competition Group is final.

  1. 1st round to be played on the date as specified on draw sheet. Any preliminary round fixtures MUST be completed prior to this date.
  2. For preliminary round and any fixtures after the 1st round proper, the 1st named team to contact the 2nd named team to arrange a mutually convenient time for the fixture.

  8. SCORING: every end has 10 points:Nearest wood to the jack scores 4 points
    • Second wood scores 3 points
    • Third wood scores 2 points
    • Fourth wood scores 1 point
    • Other woods - no score
    • In the event of a tied measure no points will be scored.
  9. The pair can play in any order but must maintain their position throughout.
  10. Scorecard with competition, names and scores must be completed and signed by both teams and deposited in box for verification.
  11. In the event of any dispute the decision of the Competition Group is final.

  3. At least 3 dates should be offered, 2 of which should be in evening or at weekend for convenience of those people who have daytime commitments.
  4. The 1st named team is responsible for booking a rink.

  6. The game will consist of 18 ends, 3 bowls each player.
  7. 2 "trial" ends, 2 bowls each player.

  1. Competition is open to ALL MEMBERS
  2. The 1st named player to contact the 2nd named player to arrange a mutually convenient time for the fixture.
  3. At least 3 dates should be offered, 2 of which should be in evening or at weekend for convenience of those people who have daytime commitments.
  4. The 1st named player is responsible for booking a rink.

  9. Handicaps are predetermined by the Competition Group, and will range from 0 to a maximum of -10
  10. The handicap given is the starting point for scoring (so a player with a handicap of -5 would start at -5 and must reach 21). (As an example, if player 1 has a handicap of -10, and player 2 has a handicap of -8, then the difference is -2, so in effect player 1 starts the match with a handicap of -2)

  12. In the event of any dispute the decision of the Competition Group is final.
